AmeriDream, established in 1999, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization creating opportunities for qualified low to moderate income individuals and families to purchase affordable homes, improve their financial lives, begin a family legacy, and strengthen their communities. AmeriDream provides a wide range of programs to benefit the individuals and families it serves, including homebuyer education, foreclosure prevention, building affordable homes, and providing financial support through privately-funded down payment gift assistance.

Our Programs

AmeriDream Homebuyer Education Program – prepares buyers to purchase a home safely and affordably. The curriculum was developed with leading homebuyer education authorities and is relied upon by homebuyers, lenders, real estate professionals and community groups. The course is offered in the classroom, interactive online, in English and in Spanish. The course and materials are free and has educated over 60,000 people nationwide.

AmeriDream Downpayment Assistance Program – Currently Unavailable! Due to a law that went into effect on October 1, 2008, AmeriDream’s Down Payment Assistance Program is no longer available. We are vigorously fighting to bring down payment assistance back. If you would like to join the fight to reform and reinstate DPA, please contact your member of Congress.

AmeriDream’s Down Payment Assistance Program was created to overcome the greatest barrier to homeownership, the down payment. AmeriDream provides an opportunity for qualified low to moderate income individuals and families to purchase affordable homes by receiving money for the down payment on a home. Homebuyers never have to repay the gift from AmeriDream. The program has helped over 250,000 qualified homebuyers become homeowners. AmeriDream Home Retention Program – helps homeowners confronted with a major life crisis such as losing their job, becoming divorced, or having a serious family illness, manage their home by providing foreclosure prevention counseling for any homeowners who are confronted with mortgage difficulties.

AmeriDream FHA Training Program – provides training to industry partners about the value of FHA and how to use FHA to increase affordable housing opportunities for low to moderate income homebuyers.

AmeriDream Building Affordable Homes Program – currently developing 106 affordable homes in Southeast Washington, DC. The Woodson Heights development is a $30 million project that is serving as a catalyst for change transforming a blighted neighborhood into a good place to call home and raise families.
