AmeriDream, Inc. Donates to Tsunami Relief Fund

Gaithersburg, MD (February 14, 2005) – Several weeks after the tsunami destroyed the coastline of South Asia and India, many families are trying to put their lives back together.  To help with this effort, AmeriDream, Inc., the nation’s leader in providing affordable housing opportunities, has collected $16,000 to aid the victims of the tsunami.

AmeriDream employees and account executives donated to a collection that was then matched 10:1 by AmeriDream.  The $16,000 will be given to AmeriCares, a non-profit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization.

“What happened to the people of Asia and India was an absolute tragedy.  Thousands of people lost their loved ones and their homes, and we wanted to help in some small way,” said Ann Ashburn, AmeriDream’s president and CEO.  “AmeriDream helps put people into homes, so we feel strongly that our donation go towards aiding people who have lost their homes in this disaster.  We encourage others donate to the tsunami relief fund and help relieve some of the hardships these devastated people are facing.”

AmeriDream operates several programs in support of its mission of providing affordable homeownership opportunities to those who otherwise would not have been able to purchase a home.  In addition to down payment assistance, DreamKeeper mortgage payment relief, online homebuyer education courses and loss mitigation, The AmeriDream Redevelopment Program builds new, affordable homes and renovates existing properties, placing these properties on the market at prices that accommodate predominantly very low- to low-income homebuyers.  Additionally, AmeriDream’s Community Link Program has donated over $2 million to numerous worthwhile charitable organizations.
