 - Donation will help goal of providing housing for elderly, disabled groups -

Gaithersburg, MD (March 18, 2004) – AmeriDream, Inc., as part of its Homes for America’s Heroes program, has donated $7,000 to the Northeast Florida Builders Association Builders Care, a non-profit organization that works to provide housing for low-income elderly or disabled people.

“This was a great opportunity for our organization. Builders Care is such a unique program, and AmeriDream is proud to be able to help it with its cause,” said Ann Ashburn, CEO, “Our goal of providing affordable housing meshes well with Builders Care’s goal and our donation will help their organization do even more.”

“We want to thank AmeriDream for their generous donation.  I can’t say exactly what we will use the money for, but it can provide the following for those in need:  28 water heaters, or 583 carpenter hours for rot repair, or 1000 bundles of roof shingles, or 63 windows or 700 gallons of paint.  How ever we ultimately spend this donation, we know it will purchase a better life for many in need,” said Bill Wilson, executive director of Builders Care.  He added, “God bless you, AmeriDream, and all the people that make it possible to help those in need.”

AmeriDream, working to educate the public about the homebuying process, held a homeownership fair in Jacksonville late last year.  Nearly 1,000 people attended the fair, which featured real estate agents, builders, lenders and AmeriDream representatives to answer attendees’ questions and concerns about the homebuying process.

AmeriDream operates several programs in support of its mission of providing affordable homeownership opportunities to low- and moderate-income individuals and families. AmeriDream’s Downpayment Gift Program provides eligible buyers with up to ten percent of the purchase price of a home for a down payment or for closing costs.  Additionally, The AmeriDream Redevelopment Program builds new, affordable homes and renovates existing properties, placing these properties on the market at prices that accommodate predominantly very low- to low-income homebuyers. And, AmeriDream Solutions, Inc., AmeriDream’s home retention program, provides guidance to homeowners who experience financial difficulties by working with them and their mortgage companies to make sure all alternatives are examined in an effort to prevent foreclosure.
