-- AmeriDream Inc. Announces 2002 Donations --

Gaithersburg, MD (April 3, 2003)—Creating strong communities is something AmeriDream, Inc. takes to heart. The nation’s leading down payment assistance nonprofit goes beyond getting people into homes by supporting communities through charitable donations. Since its inception, AmeriDream has donated more than $1.5 million with approximately $750,000 of that sum donated in 2002.

“At AmeriDream, we believe that homeownership is one portion of strong communities,” said Ann Ashburn, CEO. “Another piece of the equation is supporting our communities by donating to organizations that create educational opportunities, or keep our families healthy or somehow give back to the neighborhood.”

AmeriDream, founded just four years ago, has given more than $1.5 million to organizations that help youth and education, medical research, community revitalization as well as housing assistance programs.  Last year the organization also put the power to donate in its employees’ hands.  The organization’s new employee donation program allows full- and part-time employees to donate up to $1,000 annually to recognized 501(c)(3)s.  The program, installed in the last quarter of 2002, generated more than $40,000 in donations to various charities throughout the nation.

In the first quarter of 2003, employees donated an additional $17,500 to charities such as the AIDS Marathon, World Vision, the Rainforest Foundation and the African Governance Symposium.

“Without the support of our employees, we would not be able to make a significant difference in our communities, and turning to them for guidance on some donations that carry the AmeriDream name is an extension of that belief,” said Ashburn.
