AMERIDREAM CHARITY AWARDED GOVERNOR'S CITATION
-- Maryland Governor Commends Charity for Community Impact --

Gaithersburg, MD (August 27, 2001) - The AmeriDream Charity, Inc., today was awarded a Governor's Citation by the office of Maryland Governor Parris N. Glendening. AmeriDream Co-Founders Chris Russell and Ryan Hill accepted the certificate on behalf of the Charity.

The Citation recognized AmeriDream for their "success as a Maryland-based non-profit organization whose mission is to expand homeownership opportunities for underserved groups". The AmeriDream Downpayment Gift Program offers qualified homebuyers gift funds for a down payment towards the purchase of a home. These gift funds, which can be up to 5% of the purchase price of the home, come from a pre-existing pool of money raised by The AmeriDream Charity, Inc. While prospective homebuyers are not required to pay back the gift funds, they must qualify for a loan that permits the use of gift funds and they must purchase a home that a builder/seller has enrolled in the AmeriDream Program.

AmeriDream also operates The AmeriDream Redevelopment Program, which focuses on the restoration and revitalization of distressed homes in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, and on returning those rehabilitated properties to the market at prices that accommodate low-to-moderate-income homebuyers.

The Charity was further commended for "the positive difference [the] organization has made in the lives and life experiences of those seeking homeownership". Chris Russell expressed his gratitude for the award, stating, "We are truly honored to receive such high praise from the State of Maryland".
